Our mission

 

Our mission is to revitalise and reboot education with a unique mix of hard and soft skills. With the hard skills, we aim to use the bleeding edge of technology to bolster and boost the state of education, ensuring the both students and teachers are enabled with up-to-date tools, to better survive this modern age. With the soft skills, we aim to investigate, research and refine teaching methods and techniques, ensuring that budding young minds are enriched with the warmest hearts.

So who are we?

 

Adrian Tan

Adrian Tan is a charismatic trainer and serial entrepreneur who has impacted more than 1000 participants. He has spoken and trained at the National University of Singapore, Civil Service College and many other organizations. Starting out as a trainer for High Achievers Training Consultancy, he has conducted and facilitated many indoor and outdoor workshops for more than 100 organizations including Raffles Junior College, Hwa Chong Institution and National Junior College.

He has also taught at Nan Hua High School, and had his lessons showcased to dignitaries such as the then Education Minister, Mr. Tharman Shamugaratnam and HM King Norodom Sihamoni of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Adrian has a BA from NUS in Communications and New Media and Geography, as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Teaching.

Adrian is also a Fall 2010 Founder Institute Singapore graduate and semester winner. He is currently working on two tech startups developing solutions for the education industry.

Ruiwen Chua

Ruiwen is passionate about building learning communities. He is a co-founder of Hackerspace Singapore, as well as the President of the National University of Singapore Overseas Colleges Alumni (NOCA). He was also the founder and president of linuxNUS.

Ruiwen is also a co-founder/programmer developing an application for real-time mobile learning.

Having been involved with helping to grow the technical community in Singapore since 2005, Ruiwen has gained valuable experience in conducting technical workshops for large audiences, boiling down complex ideas into an easily digestible form.

Prior to becoming President of the NUS Overseas Colleges Alumni, Ruiwen also served as its VP of Events, conducting Bootcamps that prepared potential entrepreneurs to live abroad for a year, working in a startup environment.

Ruiwen has conducted talks/workshops in/for the following,

  • The NUS Students’ Linux User Group / The NUS Hackers
  • BarCamp Singapore
  • EduCamp Singapore
  • NUS Overseas Colleges Alumni
  • MobFest 2009

Ruiwen was also a moderator at iDA’s Infocomm Live! (Aug 2009) with Jim Whitehurst, global CEO of Red Hat

In addition, Ruiwen has also had experience putting together events for audiences in between 100 - 300 attendees, including

  • Hej! 2007 (one of Stockholm’s first Web 2.0 conferences) (Apr 2007, Stockholm)
  • Asia’s first Facebook Garage (Oct 2007)
  • MobFest (mobile technology) (Feb 2009)

Ruiwen was part of the second-placed team for the iDA/ITSC-organised codeXtremeApps 2009



Luther Goh

Luther is a co-founder of Hackerspace Singapore and former president of linuxNUS. He was also a game developer at Tyler Projects. Luther is currently a co-founder and programmer for mobile learning applications.
